Forecasters Predict Active Atlantic Hurricane Season

Hurricane Forecasters say they expect an active 2007 hurricane season.  Chief Hurricane Forecaster Joe
Bastardi at the respected weather centre ACCU Weather, also cautions that this season, hurricanes and
tropical storms are likely to pose  a far greater threat than last year to lives and property.

According to the AccuWeather.com forecast, of the 13 to 14 storms likely in the Atlantic Basin three or more are
likely to be major hurricanes of Category 3 or greater.

Bastardi also spoke of what he referred to as climatological patterns that are expected to impact this year’s
hurricane season. He said these include The occurrence of a weak La Niña  in the wake of an El Niño at the
end of last year,  the current warm water cycle that is occurring in the area of the Atlantic  as well as forecast
precipitation and air pressure patterns expected during hurricane season and  forecast air pressure
oscillations over the Pacific, and diminished dry air over the tropical Atlantic.

Many of the climatological patterns currently occurring or projected for this hurricane season are similar to
those of the 1930s through the 1950s, which was a period marked by frenzied hurricane activity.

This year's storms will be named: Andrea, Barry, Chantal, Dean, Erin, Felix, Gabrielle, Humberto, Ingrid, Jerry,
Karen, Lorenzo, Melissa, Noel, Olga, Pablo, Rebekah, Sebastien, Tanya, Van and  Wendy

    Big Business Support Government Moves
To Improve Education for Children in Care

Children in care are in line for private tutelage, apprenticeships and management training. That’s according to
Education Secretary Allan Johnson. He said the move comes as part of a government package that is aimed at
giving  children in difficulty a better start in life.

The Government package said to be worth £305M over the next four years includes provision for each child in
care and at risk of falling behind ,to receive an education grant of £500 a year for books and after school activities.
Children who qualify will also be eligible   to receive a university bursary worth £2000.

Under the new measures children in care can also expect to be afforded the highest priority in school
    admissions.

Speaking at an event with business leaders to launch the Care Matters White Paper, Johnson also called on
other businesses to support the measures.

“For too long society has failed children in care and it is nothing less than a scandal", he said.” “We should have
the same aspirations for these children as we do our own,” he admonished.

PINE BARK Derivative is Good For The Heart

Another wonder drug may soon be on its way to a doctor’s surgery near you. Researchers say Pycnogeno could
help to prevent damage to the heart caused by high blood pressure.

A report soon to be published in the journal of Cardiovascular Toxicology says the drug,  a powerful antioxidant
extracted from the bark of the French maritime pine tree, can help prevent damage to the heart brought on by
    blood pressure.

The study shows that Pycnogenol  prevents the heart from getting worn out during hypertension. Cardiac
chamber walls also showed a significantly higher rate of collagen connective tissues than control groups.

Dr. Ronald Watson, professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Arizona said “the
effectiveness of Pycnogenol supplementation is a great option for many people who want an alternative to
prescription medications such as beta blockers or ACE inhibitors.”

“This new study shows Pycnogenol administers a therapeutic effect to limit the degenerative process in patients
predisposed to congestive heart failure,” he added.

Professor Watson also holds the view,  the study provides evidence that oral administration of Pycnogenol®
reversed cardiovascular remodelling induced by L-NAME by blocking nitric
oxide production, which leads to hypertension and finally cardiomyopathy,”
